From the moment I arrived at Stonehurst Cedar Creek, I knew Lauren and Tom’s wedding was going to be something special. A scenic and relaxing drive out to Wollombi Valley in the heart of the Hunter Valley, Stonehurst is one of those venues that just gets it right. Gorgeous sandstone buildings, rows of vineyards, open paddocks, and that unmistakable Aussie bush charm.
The weather turned it on. Warm but not too hot, with soft afternoon light and just enough breeze to keep everyone comfy. Honestly, you couldn’t have asked for a better day for wedding photography. It was one of those golden late-October days where everything feels calm, easy, and full of light.
Lauren got ready in the old homestead with her bridesmaids, surrounded by music, champagne, and plenty of laughter. Meanwhile, Tom and the boys were out in the cabins, cracking jokes and soaking in the day. You could sense the soft, pleasant feeling of love in the air.
The ceremony was held in the beautiful pavilion with the green Aussie bush as their backdrop. They were hit with gorgeous light that is rare to find as a wedding photographer in the Hunter Valley.
Afterwards, we took some time to explore the property for portraits. Stonehurst Cedar Creek is an absolute dream for a wedding photographer. Long dirt driveways, dappled bushland, unique barn doors, vineyard rows that absolutely glow in the late afternoon sun. Every little corner has its own vibe, and we captured it all without rushing or posing too much. Just letting Lauren and Tom enjoy each other and the moment.
The reception kicked off in the rustic wine cellar. Candlelit, warm, and full of delicious pizza from the food truck, happy tears, and stories that had everyone in stitches. It felt like one big dinner party with the people they love most. No stress, no drama, just a ripper celebration under the stars and stone.
What stood out most to me was how true to themselves Lauren and Tom were the whole way through. They didn’t get caught up in trends or expectations. They just wanted to celebrate their love, their way, surrounded by bushland, good tunes, and great people.
To Lauren and Tom — thank you for having me along for the ride. Your wedding at Stonehurst Cedar Creek was the kind of day that reminds me why I love being a wedding photographer in the Hunter Valley.
